Yo fam, got a story for y'all. Remember when I mentioned we're throwing down trying to launch our own flippers brand? Well, this week I had this real wow moment. Dropped by a warehouse outside of Guangzhou to check on some shipments. And there he was, Ali, our go-to man for logistics on this side. Turns out he's been hustling on the side, selling African fabrics here in China for the past 2 years. Had no idea. What struck me the most was his story: He started with like a 2k (that's not currency, it's 2,000 pieces) stock of fabric, now ships thousands monthly to vendors in Chengdu, Zhengzhou, all over. No English, faced numerous visa issues, but kept pushing. #BossedUp #DoingTheMost

Now, running my own shop near Tianhe business district, selling digitally imported goods to locals. Numbers don't lie, huh? 📦🚢 Sure wasn't easy. Lot of late nights at Baoma Lu market, coding custom shipping routes to dodge customs hurdles. High custom duties hurt, but keeping a cool head when dealing with those pesky paperwork did wonders. Success stories around? Heard about this guy from Lagos, runs a small-scale supermarket in Beijing. Humble beginnings - migrant worker then turned entrepreneur. And the countless ladies bagging profit from tailoring and boutique businesses in Wuyi Plaza. These tales are the real fuel. Not the empty pep-talks, right? They're proof it's all about the process. Just keep pushing. Numbers will follow, trust the process.

Three years ago, we recorded this video and never posted it. The platform wasn't even called Hafrik yet. It was FLIC, a simple idea to build a community app for foreigners living in China 🇨🇳 In front of the camera, Rejoice and Success, two people who believed in the vision before the vision even had a name. Behind the camera, Andrew shooting it, Lolade holding things together, and myself figuring out what we were even building. We didn't post it because honestly, we were still becoming. The name changed. The vision grew. What started as "let's help foreigners in China connect" turned into something much bigger. We discovered that Africans specifically, whether trading from Lagos, studying in Guangzhou, or building a life in Yiwu, had no real infrastructure built for them. No trusted platform. No community backbone. No one on the ground solving their actual problems. So FLIC became Hafrik. And Hafrik became the operating system for Africans abroad. We're posting this now three years later not because it's perfect. But because every big thing starts somewhere small, uncertain, and unpolished. This was ours.
