China’s New Exit-Entry Rules Take Effect September 15, 2026 – What Foreigners Need to KnowChina’s State Council has issued new Regulations on Exit and Entry Administration (Order No. 841). They come into force on 15 September 2026.Key changes for foreigners: • Providing false materials or making false statements on a visa or entry application can now result in a 1–5 year entry ban. • Common violations include: fake invitation letters, falsified education/work documents, concealing a previous stay in China, or claiming tourism when the real purpose is business/work. • Anyone who issues a false invitation letter or supporting documents can be fined RMB 5,000–10,000 (individuals) or RMB 10,000–50,000 (companies), plus confiscation of illegal profits. • Immigration consultants and visa agents in China face stricter registration and heavier penalties (fines, suspension, or licence revocation).The rules mainly codify existing practices and close loopholes.
