• Why are these hotels so cheap?

These are not the only ones I have seen, there are dozen of phenomenal looking hotels for less than $30. They also have quite a lot of reviews but it seems a bit too good. Can somebody explain what I might be missing or if that is a common scam?

  • Supporting Foreigners With Real Solutions.
So Earlier today, a foreign entrepreneur reached out in our community asking for a trusted service in Shenzhen that could translate academic degrees into Chinese and provide an official stamped translation. This is a common requirement for work permits, company registration, school applications, and other official processes in China, yet it’s often hard for foreigners to find reliable providers.

Our support team responded immediately to understand her location and exact need. After checking our existing contacts in Shenzhen, we were able to recommend a verified translation company that specializes in official academic document translations accepted by Chinese authorities.

    Recommended Company Details:
    • Company Name: New World Translation
    • Service: Academic degree translation with official stamp
    • City: Shenzhen
    • WeChat ID: XSJHR2004

The contact was shared directly in the group so she could reach out without delays or uncertainty.

This is a simple example of how the community works. When someone has a real need, we connect them to real solutions using trusted contacts. No guessing, no unnecessary back and forth, just practical help that saves time and stress.

We’ll continue to support foreigners and entrepreneurs by sharing verified information and contacts that make life and business in China easier.

  • The way China changes policy needs to be studied, because omo tell me why something is working this week and the next thing, it isn’t working anymore, and the craziest part is when you ask why, their reply is always NO WHY. lol

  • So last Sunday my friend and I saw this massive European-style castle-church thing from the road in Ganzhou and we were like “Yo, they built a cathedral here and nobody told us?!”
Looked exactly like those old churches you see in movies: tall spires, stained-glass-looking windows, the whole vibe. We even crossed ourselves out of respect before walking in
We push open the giant doors expecting incense and hymns… instead the lady at the front desk in a suit goes “欢迎光临” (welcome) and hands us a room-rate card.
Turns out the whole “church” is actually a luxury themed hotel called FUHOME. The altar area? Reception. The “chapel”? Lobby with chandeliers. The confession booths? Probably some VIP suites now
We stood there for a solid 30 seconds with our mouths open, then started laughing so loud security thought we were drunk. Took this photo right after and left because we definitely couldn’t afford to confess our sins in 5-star beds that night.

  • Today’s creative challenge pick: a little evening treat at Park Hyatt Suzhou 🍴

This spread isn’t just a meal—what makes it unique is how the warm, low-lit lounge of the hotel turns a simple dinner into a cozy little ‘pause’ from busy days. The lamb chops here have that perfect crispy edge but melt-in-your-mouth inside, and even the pasta tastes like it’s got a little extra care stirred in.

Who else has a go-to spot that turns ordinary moments into something nice? Tag a friend to share their own fun food/moment snap for #CreativeWednesdayChallenge #MyMarket/StreetChallenge!

To my fellow Hafrik users: Drop a comment below with one thing you’ve loved doing on here so far, or go post your own little Hafrik highlight on your profile—I’ll be over there liking every single one.

Join me on Hafrik—let’s stop just scrolling, and start doing and connecting instead!

  • Many Africans come to China hoping for a stable monthly job. The reality is different.
Out of 100 people, maybe 5 get a proper role — and even that depends on passport, skills, experience and sometimes skin colour.

But here’s the truth most people don’t hear early:

China rewards people who open their minds, not just those looking for salary work.
If you’re willing to learn, try small opportunities, build relationships and show up consistently, this place can transform your life.

Whether you come as a student or a visitor, planning ahead is everything. Start testing ideas early, learn how the market works, and surround yourself with people who push themselves to grow.

That’s one reason we built Hafrik — a platform helping Africans in China connect with real communities, events, businesses and opportunities.
Because when you’re plugged into the right network, everything changes.

If you stay open-minded, consistent and intentional, China won’t just be a place you live — it becomes a place you grow.

  • Are you ready to be the right person?

We spend so much time searching for the “right person” that we forget to look at ourselves.
Everybody wants someone kind, loyal, funny, patient, understanding… but very few are actively working to become those things too.

Real connections don’t start with finding perfection in someone else. They start with becoming a better version of yourself — building your character, healing, learning, and growing.

When you stop looking outward and start improving inward, you shift from being a seeker to becoming a source of light.
And when you carry that light, you naturally attract people who match your energy.

So instead of asking, “Where is the right person for me?”
Ask, “Am I ready to be the right person for someone?”

That answer comes from self-reflection, effort, and the willingness to grow.
