  • Cooking is my way to relax after a busy day! 🍳😋 Just made some homemade Chinese food today. Looks good, right?

Food is the best way to understand a culture. I really want to try some African food one day, and I'm always happy to make new friends here! 🌍🤝

What is your favorite local dish from your country? Any recommendations? Let me know in the comments! 👇

  • Nobody told us these before we landed 😅 Save this so you don't learn them the hard way 🔖

1️⃣ Your phone number is your ID. Bring your passport for the SIM.
2️⃣ Almost nobody pays with cash. Set up WeChat Pay and Alipay before you fly.
3️⃣ Not staying in a hotel? Register your address at the local police station within 24 hours.
4️⃣ Google, WhatsApp and Instagram don't work on local networks. Download WeChat, Alipay, Amap, DiDi and a translator first.
5️⃣ On an X1 or Z visa? Apply for your residence permit within 30 days of arrival.

Which one caught you off guard? Tell us below 👇
📤 Send this to someone moving to China this year.

  • Yo, for me changzhou is one of the most boring places to stay 😭😂 you have to move far a bit to other places to experience some sort of fun or to chill, show stays in changzhou? Maybe it's just me (I'm kind of an introvert 🤧) but still it's quite boring mostly at this xitaihu

  • Why Does EXercise Feel So Boring?
Exercise often feels boring, not because of the exercise itself, but because of the other choices. After a long day, a walk competes with a bed, a movie, games and a phone. Choosing quick pleasure over long-term goals is a natural human weakness. In the famous marshmallow test, children who could wait 15 minutes for a second marshmallow were, decades later, more successful in many areas and had healthier weight. They were not born with more self-control; they used tricks, like covering their eyes or turning the marshmallow into a pretend pet. Exercise can be made more appealing too: make it social, so it is harder to cancel and more fun, or pair it with good things for the senses, like music, shows, new routes and nature.
    Word notes:
    - self-control: the ability to stop oneself from doing something
    - marshmallow: a soft, sweet candy
    - social exercise: exercise done with other people, like ball games or group walks
    - senses: sight, hearing, smell, taste and touch

  • Been thinking bout forming a proper Anglophone students group here in Guangzhou honestly. Too many of us scattered doing our own thing when we could be linking up, sharing notes, supporting each other through this experience. Anyone interested in organizing something? 📣

  • Growth often feels like loss before it feels like progress.

Old habits, familiar places, and certain relationships may call you back. Not because they are right for your future, but because they are comfortable.

Moving forward sometimes means refusing to return to what you already outgrew.
