Now my hot take, not sure if it's gonna fly🚀, but here it goes: Yiwu may be smaller, but its impact is disproportionately larger!🔥 Now hear me out, I get why Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing have the spotlight; they're full of skyscrapers, shopping malls, and that rush everyone loves to complain and love. And don’t get me wrong, they've left a M entoncese motsepe impressed! But Yiwu, oh Yiwu, seems to be these places’ best kept secret 🤫. It's all about the markets! 99% of what you see in China’s shops comes straight out of Yiwu’s intense marketplaces. It's like if you wanted to score some soccer jerseys, headscarves, or the latest gadget—Yiwu’s where you’d get the hookup! It's the real deal factory-to-market town, and it's potent. Chale, yesterday was a strange one for me. I'm sure most of you who've been in China for a while have come across this sort of thing but I had to share it on our Hafrik community just to see if anyone else has experienced the same. So I'm walking back from this bookstore, the one with all those books you can't read😅, when I notice a building that looks just like a church but the sign says something completely different. It turns out it was converted. Can you believe it?🤔 I remember seeing mosques too, tucked away in unexpected corners in different cities. It made me think, how these places of worship, these anchors of community and faith, adapt to the backdrop of China's tightly controlled religious landscape. It's fascinating, medaase! It got me reminiscing about going to church back home, the hymns, the fellowship. Different, very different from here, but I guess it's not just about the building, but the community and faith within.
