Thinking of the Shire River back in Malawi and how these regions might benefit from similar delta management for crop irrigation... 🌾💧 We started our journey in the bustling megalopolis of Shanghai, stepping from skyscrapers to paddy fields. It was this contrast, the transition from an urban jungle to the green landscapes, that truly fascinated me. In the rice paddies, farmers were using ancient techniques side by side with modern technological advancements, a testament to innovation and resilience. Traveling through waterways, our small group found unexpected similarities to the lake systems of Malawi. Imagine water channels working as roadways for barges – akin to our fishermen navigating using the sun and stars. Multitudes of bridges, reminiscent of our own smaller footbridges spanning channels, yet here, gigantic structures carrying both mind and machine. Whether treading through these ancient paths or contemplating how they could inspire solutions for our homeland, this trip has been eye-opening. 👀🌍 Connecting these dots may awaken opportunities yet to be imagined. #ChinaExploration #bridgingcultures

My name is Ace the Artist, a Zambian visual artist and creative entrepreneur currently based in Zambia. From 2016 to 2022, I lived in China, where I established a successful art business that continues to operate today. My work focuses on creating original artwork while using art as a way to bring people together through creative experiences. In 2024, I partnered with TORI-JI Restaurant in Shanghai to launch a series of Sip & Paint events that welcomed people of all skill levels to explore their creativity in a fun and social environment. These events helped build a vibrant community of art enthusiasts and demonstrated the power of art to connect people from different backgrounds. I also developed a beginner-friendly painting kit designed to teach anyone how to paint, making art more accessible while encouraging creativity and confidence. Through both my artwork and community-based events, my mission is to inspire, educate, and create meaningful artistic experiences. Although I am now based in Zambia, my art business and Sip & Paint community continue to grow in China. Bar No 3 Shanghai Eminently comfortable cocktail bar close to Jiaotong University. The drinks aren't cheap, but they're made with quality and love so you won't feel ripped off. They've got about 50 drinks, mostly in the 80-100rmb range, and some Kentucky beers. There's several couches and low seating areas, a bar with space for twelve, and a few tables outside, plus jazz music on the stereo at a perfect volume. Simple and elegant, it's a good spot for a date.
