Dropped by a warehouse outside of Guangzhou to check on some shipments. And there he was, Ali, our go-to man for logistics on this side. Turns out he's been hustling on the side, selling African fabrics here in China for the past 2 years. Had no idea.
What struck me the most was his story: He started with like a 2k (that's not currency, it's 2,000 pieces) stock of fabric, now ships thousands monthly to vendors in Chengdu, Zhengzhou, all over. No English, faced numerous visa issues, but kept pushing.

So, I had to send some funds back home but stumbled upon this hidden fee I hadn't noticed before. It was a real wake-up call. Deducts a noticeable chunk of your money, probably getting my funding into days late. 😔 It made me realize - always check the small print, these small percentage fees can really accumulate.

Also, I found it helpful to use apps that track exchange rates. Just exchanged my yuan to dollars yesterday during a favorable rate - saved a pretty penny, I tell you! 😎

My name is Ace the Artist, a Zambian visual artist and creative entrepreneur currently based in Zambia. From 2016 to 2022, I lived in China, where I established a successful art business that continues to operate today. My work focuses on creating original artwork while using art as a way to bring people together through creative experiences.

In 2024, I partnered with TORI-JI Restaurant in Shanghai to launch a series of Sip & Paint events that welcomed people of all skill levels to explore their creativity in a fun and social environment.
