    Numbers 13 & 14
THE 12 SPIES & THE PROMISED LAND
*it wasn't God's initial plan for the Israelites to spend 40yrs in the wilderness, Numbers 13 vs1 - 3 shows us that, Moses is actually tasked to send out 12 men, one from every tribe of Isreal - the sons of Jacob into the promised land. The choice of words by God is distinct "the land I am giving to the Israelites". It wasn't a senseless trial and error, or test driving or window shopping it was actually already meant for them.
*Moses's instruction was for them to find out as much as they could about this place, the people, the land, the towns, their security, the crops etc.
*40days later the men return with reports of what they saw, these were divided into two.
***Report A by the 10 is very negative, it opens up with "the land you sent us to explore", remember how God said it to Moses in vs 2, now look at how they talk about the same land in vs 27. They complain about the powerful giants, large fortified cites etc.
***Report B by Caleb & Joshua is very positive, "let's go on to take the land, we can certainly conquer it"
*let's closely look at the choice of words on both reports, they show us their state of mind, their faith in God, and what they knew the LORD to be capable of.
*Romans 12 vs 1 & 2 calls us to the renewal of our minds, not being conformed to the world, part of that renewal is the Holy Spirit transforming your mind into that which can receive and partner up to see what God is calling us to.
*they already had a track record of God at this point, the plagues, being set free from Pharaoh's captivity, the parting of the Red Sea & even the manna, yet they couldn't stop to look back at the nature of the God who was backing them up.
*the end result was the 40yr wilderness experience where they all died and their kids 19 & below would get to enter that promised land (Numbers 14 vs 26 - 36)
    ***KEY NOTES***
    1. Are you able to see what God is calling you to, what God calls you to is always bigger than you, bigger than what you can imagine and it needs total faith in Him for you to be able to see it through & through.
    2. Do you know your advantage, Numbers 14 vs 7 - 9, Joshua & Caleb know that they have the mighty God on their side, so taking over this land was going to be walk in the park. When you start recognising the advantages you have as a child of God you stop being a victim and unnecessarily wandering in the wilderness.
    3. Let's be in the habit of asking the Holy Spirit to transform our mind through His power, that way we're not going to be giving negative reports that subject us to unnecessary 40yrs in the wilderness.
    4. God is faithful, you have enough track record of His faithfulness and love and mercy and grace to trust Him, be in the habit of pausing and reflecting back before you utter negative reports.

    Matthew 20:29-34 NLT
    HEALING OF TWO BLIND MEN
[29] As Jesus and the disciples left the town of Jericho, a large crowd followed behind.
***Jesus always had a crowd following him up, rarely was He alone unless He had actually left early morning for his prayer sessions etc.
[30] Two blind men were sitting beside the road. When they heard that Jesus was coming that way, they began shouting, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
***2 man who the road was their spot, hence this Jesus whom they had never seen but properly heard of was worth shouting out to. It's interesting that they cried out for mercy - (a deep compassion which seeks to release one from their suffering).
[31] “Be quiet!” the crowd yelled at them. But they only shouted louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”
***remember the crowd is always with Jesus, nomatter which city He goes to, the crowd always shows up, so these are people who also perhaps are entertained by him and like the way He heals their sick and deliver their demon oppressed. Therefore the crowds level of compassion or sympathy is 0%,they even tell them to "shut up". However since the blind men knew their reality better, they refused to be offended and to be silenced by those who ain't in their shoes. Are you prepared to shout louder to the only one who will have mercy on? [32] When Jesus heard them, he stopped and called, “What do you want me to do for you?” [33] “Lord,” they said, “we want to see!” [34] Jesus felt sorry for them and touched their eyes. Instantly they could see! Then they followed him.
***they request for their sight to be restored. Jesus felt sorry for them & touched their eyes, the reaction that men lacked, is the one Jesus showcases. His healing for them was pushed by mercy, love, compassion. They followed Jesus and became part of the crowd, but hopefully the one that will be able to extend mercy to others.
    ***KEY NOTES***
    1. A closed mouth won't get you help, at times shout for mercy, the one who matters will hear and show up for you.
    2. Don't be the crowd, be full of love and compassion towards others, have sympathy for fellow men .
    3. Jesus moved out of compassion, so why don't you cry out to Him because that's His character, He won't ignore you like the crowd.
    4. Their eyesight was restored immediately, nothing is beyond Jesus, you just haven't met Him yet.

  • the Awakened faith...
Why faith you might ask, why not hope, salvation, peace or any other topic in this lovely bible that we have? Well the author of Hebrews in chapter 11 vs 6 would say it's impossible to please God without faith, while Ephesians 6 vs 16 would say hold up the shield or faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. So faith is pretty much important in this our walk with the Lord, so important that Jesus Himself is referred to as the author and finisher of our faith, meaning that we cannot start talking of faith in God without going through Jesus. Romans would also go on to say faith comes through hearing the word of God. So we shall continue talking about the issues of faith, we shall have our eyes fixed on Jesus, we shall read our bibles because aside from that our faith fails, it weakens and becomes all dusty and rusty.
Please join me on this journey as we seek to please our God, as we seek to grow in faith, in spirit and just to make Jesus proud.

Love isn't a transaction, and commitment shouldn't come with a list of conditions. Unconditional love means choosing each other beyond what can be gained.

  • Sawa sawa, my lovely Wasafi Nairobi to Guangzhou! It's time to break bread with a flavorful twist 🍽️ I've had deals with suppliers and battled customs drama, but what's life without some spicy mama shujaa sampling?✨

Our hunger pangs just got a delicious cure - stepping into African food and restaurants in China is no small win! πŸ™Œ

Loads of traditional dishes to choose from, like 🍚 ugali paired with πŸ₯© nyama choma and don't forget the 🍹 pombe, our drink of choice. The aroma alone takes you back home 😍🏑

Who's craving a taste of Africa while they’re here? Let's find the best and share! Bon appétit, tamaa zaidi haba hivyo!

  • Dumela rentale! πŸŒ† This week, I've had my eyes wandering up and down the map of China. Among all these buzzing cities—Guangzhou, Yiwu, Shenzhen, and our old friend Beijing—no two are quite the same. Now my hot take, not sure if it's gonna flyπŸš€, but here it goes: Yiwu may be smaller, but its impact is disproportionately larger!πŸ”₯

Now hear me out, I get why Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and Beijing have the spotlight; they're full of skyscrapers, shopping malls, and that rush everyone loves to complain and love. And don’t get me wrong, they've left a M entoncese motsepe impressed! But Yiwu, oh Yiwu, seems to be these places’ best kept secret 🀫.

It's all about the markets! 99% of what you see in China’s shops comes straight out of Yiwu’s intense marketplaces. It's like if you wanted to score some soccer jerseys, headscarves, or the latest gadget—Yiwu’s where you’d get the hookup! It's the real deal factory-to-market town, and it's potent. Do people agree or disagree? Is there a stripped-down city you'd spotlight over the glitz? I'd love to hear your takes on #CitySpotlights.
