China’s New Exit-Entry Rules Take Effect September 15, 2026 – What Foreigners Need to Know
China’s State Council has issued new Regulations on Exit and Entry Administration (Order No. 841). They come into force on 15 September 2026.
Key changes for foreigners:
• Providing false materials or making false statements on a visa or entry application can now result in a 1–5 year entry ban.
• Common violations include: fake invitation letters, falsified education/work documents, concealing a previous stay in China, or claiming tourism when the real purpose is business/work.
• Anyone who issues a false invitation letter or supporting documents can be fined RMB 5,000–10,000 (individuals) or RMB 10,000–50,000 (companies), plus confiscation of illegal profits.
• Immigration consultants and visa agents in China face stricter registration and heavier penalties (fines, suspension, or licence revocation).
The rules mainly codify existing practices and close loopholes. Ordinary tourists and genuine business travellers following the rules should not be affected.
Stay accurate, avoid fake documents, and apply for the correct visa category.
Sources: Official State Council regulation + reputable English summaries (Straits Times, China Daily, immigration law firms).

Yo fam, got a story for y'all. Remember when I mentioned we're throwing down trying to launch our own flippers brand? Well, this week I had this real wow moment.
Dropped by a warehouse outside of Guangzhou to check on some shipments. And there he was, Ali, our go-to man for logistics on this side. Turns out he's been hustling on the side, selling African fabrics here in China for the past 2 years. Had no idea.
What struck me the most was his story: He started with like a 2k (that's not currency, it's 2,000 pieces) stock of fabric, now ships thousands monthly to vendors in Chengdu, Zhengzhou, all over. No English, faced numerous visa issues, but kept pushing.

They want you to learn 'hello' and 'thank you' and feel accomplished. Meanwhile your competitors are negotiating payment terms in Mandarin and shaving 15% off unit costs. Step 1: Audit how many WeChat messages you ignored this month because they weren't in English. Step 2: What's the actual ROI on stopping at beginner level vs pushing to conversational fluency? π¦

Forget the standard English textbooks. If you want to tell someone a task is super easy, just drop this legendary line:
"SMALL DISH ONE PLATE" (XiΗo cài yì dié - ε°θδΈη’) π₯π
The Logic:

In China: We compare it to a side dish that's so light and crunchy, you can finish it in one bite. π₯¦β¨

How to explain "8-9 don't leave 10" to your confused friends π
You tell your friend it’s “8 nine don’t leave 10” and they think you’re teaching them a math mystery. π’π

“ε «δΉδΈη¦»ε” (BΔ jiΗ bù lí shí).
It means "Almost there," but the Chinglish version is just way more iconic. πΌβ¨

WhatsApp/Instagram/Google in China π¨π³ – What’s working for you?
Just arrived or planning a trip? Here’s the real deal on staying connected:
π΄ The Block
WhatsApp, Instagram, Google (Maps, Gmail, Drive), Facebook, and X are blocked here without a stable connection tool. Don’t panic—it’s manageable.
π’ What actually works:
WeChat = Everything (chat, pay, mini-apps, life)
Baidu Maps > Google Maps for local navigation (Chinese/English available)
Outlook/Hotmail usually works without issues for email
Bing works for search (international version)
Apple Maps works if you have iPhone
π‘ Pro tips:
- Download a VPN before you arrive (if you go that route—test a few, they vary by city/ISP)
- International roaming: from your home SIM sometimes bypasses blocks (but check data costs!)
- Alipay or WeChat Pay are essential—way more important than Instagram access π
π€ My question to you:
What’s your setup? VPN, roaming, or full "going local" with Chinese apps? Any apps surprisingly working better than expected?
Drop your tips below for the new arrivals! π
