  • Growth often feels like loss before it feels like progress.

Old habits, familiar places, and certain relationships may call you back. Not because they are right for your future, but because they are comfortable.

Moving forward sometimes means refusing to return to what you already outgrew.

  • Honestly the loneliness hit harder than I expected when I first arrived. Between missing family and adjusting to everything, I went through a rough patch. Now I'm learning to be intentional - gospel music, fitness routines, and just talking to people helps so much. How do you all

  • New in China? Know the signs before you pay anyone. 🚩 These are 5 scams newcomers run into most: 1) fake landlords and agents, 2) too-good-to-be-true supplier deals, 3) cash swaps with strangers, 4) fake visa and job "fixers", 5) phishing links and fake officials. Swipe for how to spot each one, and share it with someone who just landed. Not sure about a deal? Ask before you pay, in your Hafrik Space.

  • China’s New Exit-Entry Rules Take Effect September 15, 2026 – What Foreigners Need to Know
China’s State Council has issued new Regulations on Exit and Entry Administration (Order No. 841). They come into force on 15 September 2026.

    Key changes for foreigners:
    • Providing false materials or making false statements on a visa or entry application can now result in a 1–5 year entry ban.

    • Common violations include: fake invitation letters, falsified education/work documents, concealing a previous stay in China, or claiming tourism when the real purpose is business/work.

    • Anyone who issues a false invitation letter or supporting documents can be fined RMB 5,000–10,000 (individuals) or RMB 10,000–50,000 (companies), plus confiscation of illegal profits.
    • Immigration consultants and visa agents in China face stricter registration and heavier penalties (fines, suspension, or licence revocation).

The rules mainly codify existing practices and close loopholes. Ordinary tourists and genuine business travellers following the rules should not be affected.
Stay accurate, avoid fake documents, and apply for the correct visa category.

Sources: Official State Council regulation + reputable English summaries (Straits Times, China Daily, immigration law firms).

  • Been thinking bout forming a proper Anglophone students group here in Guangzhou honestly. Too many of us scattered doing our own thing when we could be linking up, sharing notes, supporting each other through this experience. Anyone interested in organizing something? 📣
