If you’re in Guangzhou for sourcing or scouting suppliers, here’s what changed this session and why buyers should care.
The 138th Canton Fair opened on October 15, 2025 in Guangzhou. This edition is being called the strictest so far. Many small and medium exhibitors were surprised by the new rules, but for buyers, the updates bring clear benefits.
What’s new
- Stricter exhibitor checks: Companies must provide social security records for at least three months. Owners and reps need verified documentation before approval.
- Higher bar for interpreters: Interpreters accompanying overseas buyers must hold a translation certificate or foreign-language degree, with online review at least two days in advance.
- No more scalper tickets: Unregistered or borrowed passes won’t work. The goal is a cleaner, safer show floor.
- Heavier penalties: Enter under different company names for four consecutive years and you’ll land on a key review list; six consecutive years can lead to revoked qualifications.
Why buyers should care
Tighter rules mean better-screened sellers, higher product quality, clearer accountability, and more efficient meetings. Less noise. More real opportunities.
