Can Hotel Reject Your Stay Just Because You're A Foreigner?

Ever booked a hotel in China, rolled in with your suitcase all excited, only to hear that dreaded line: “Sorry, we’re not qualified to accept foreigners”?

Yeah… me too. Awful.

It’s been repeated so often it might as well be part of the hotel’s welcome script when a foreigner walks in. And the reason they give? “According to the law…”

Well, let’s stop right there.

Because that, my friends, is a complete lie.

There. Is. No. Such. Law.

None. Zero. Zilch. 木有!

And here’s the kicker — even the Chinese government is tired of this nonsense. They’ve been wrongly blamed for years over a “rule” that doesn’t exist, and they’ve finally had enough.

So now, the Central Government has spoken — loud and clear.

All Hotels Barred From Refusing Foreign Guests Last July, the Central Government finally snapped (in a good way). Seven big-shot ministries—including tourism, immigration, police, and commerce—got together like the Avengers of bureaucracy and dropped this official statement below:

Here’s the translated gist of that document (in my biased way):

“Dear hotels and local officials:
We don’t care wtf your excuse is.
If a foreigner books a stay, you accept them.
Y'all hear me?

Do the paperwork. Do your job. Stop making it hard.

Sincerely,
The F**king Awesome Seven Ministries.”

So yeah, this is not just another local memo stuck on a dusty bulletin board.
This came straight from the top—and it’s official.
