Uzbekistan & China Sign Visa-Free Travel Agreement – What Foreigners Need to Know
Visa-Free Travel Between Uzbekistan and China Begins June 1, 2025 – Here’s What You Should Know
From June 1, 2025, a new visa-free agreement between Uzbekistan and China will allow citizens from both countries to visit each other for up to 30 days without needing a visa.
This agreement was officially signed on December 1, 2024, in Chengdu and has now passed all necessary internal approvals in both countries. According to Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, it will soon go into effect—great news for travelers, families, and business visitors.
Key points of the agreement:
- 30 days max per visit, not exceeding 90 days total in any 180-day period.
- Visa-free travel applies to entry, exit, and transit.
- You must still apply for a visa if you plan to:
- Work or get employed
- Study in any institution
- Do media or journalism-related work
- Engage in any activity requiring special permission
Important:
This agreement does not apply to Hong Kong or Macau. If you’re visiting those regions, normal visa rules still apply.
For anyone planning a short visit, this change simplifies things. But make sure you understand the restrictions—especially if you’re staying long-term or coming for work or study.
